Time Warp--On Science--On Health-- On Defense-- Artcam |
This is the latest image uploaded from our water webcam. The images are generated using an apparatus comprised of a rear illuminated water tank with submerged and partially submerged birefringent elements; these elements are continually moved chaotically by nozzles connected to a water pump. Input light is polarized. A second polarizer is interposed between the tank and a digital camera in order to record the continuously changing phenomena. Webcam software performs the ftp uploads. Each image to be uploaded is chosen by me (the human element) when I observe a "meaningful" pattern. In this sense the webcam is conceptually similar to a poetry generator with a human deciding between poetic "noise" and poetic "meaningfulness." Your comments are welcome. Gary Fisher |
